Mark Piper's journey began with Herbert Reads of Exeter, an ecclesiastical restoration company established in 1888. Working on projects for churches worldwide, he gained invaluable experience in traditional woodworking and restoration techniques. This prestigious background instilled a deep respect for craftsmanship and enduring quality.
During his time at Herbert Reads, Mark earned his City and Guilds in Cabinet Making at Brunel Technical College in Bristol, further solidifying his technical expertise. He then pursued advanced studies in fine craftsmanship and design at Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire.

My Philosophy
My aim is to produce furniture to the highest standards of quality. Much of my commission work is concerned with excellence in function, clarity of quality and purpose - structural invention and use of sustainable resources combined with working with the customer, understanding and interpreting their individual needs. Commissioned pieces always mean working within a budget, but some things are made speculatively, simply because they are a good idea.
We believe that a piece of furniture should be built to last a lifetime with as little impact on the environment as possible.

Sustainable British Hardwoods
We proudly use sustainable homegrown British hardwoods from a number of local suppliers where the wood has come from well managed woodlands so turning a beautiful tree into a stunning piece of furniture of high quality and low mileage thanks to our no waste initiatives. Wood chips from our machining are used by farmers for animal bedding.
